July 3, 2019 Reply Eyedunno Wow, I weigh 150 (or about 68kg) and am aiming for 140g of protein a day (way more than that 1.5g/kg), and I don't find it difficult at all without supplements. Like today I had a small container of Icelandic yogurt, two cans of sardines, and three chicken drumsticks. That's about 112g of protein right there, and I got the rest from fruits, vegetables, oats, almonds, and a half pint of no added sugar ice cream (Keto Pint) for a total so far of about 142g, and I still have about 350 calories to eat before bed, most of which I will probably get from some more nuts, so it'll be at LEAST 145g. Since 1st July I've been eating a lot of nutritious food (I don't eat any junk food) and I workout at the gym 3 times a week for between 45mins and an hour and I have put on 4lbs. I have a bit of body fat around my mid-section that I really don't want so don't want to put weight on in the form of fat but muscle. I'm confused about something. If you are in caloric deficit, therefore not eating the calories you need, your body uses fat. Surely though, if you supplement with protein, won't your body convert the protein to energy before your body uses the fat stores? Also, won't too much protein put a strain on your liver? I've been doing the 5×5 with added core workout on Mon, Wed, Fri and taking the weekend to recover, so theoretically I shouldn't be in muscle annihilation, even if it takes longer to complete than an individual muscle group workout. Have a targeted weight at the end of the bulk, say you are 138 pounds, you wanna get to 170 with 1 pound per week( This is my current goal, right now im 154)2. When bulking, carbs and fat are important, I recommend mass gainer. 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. When cutting, 1.5 gram of protein per pound since you wanna cut out most of carbs and fats from your diet, and your body needs protein so it doesnt lose muscle3. A lot of discipline, eating the same thing over and over again. But at the end you know it’s worth it!4. Before cutting, spend 3-4 weeks only cutting a little bit of calorie. If you are taking 3500 cal, cut it to 3100, not immediately to 2500.
