July 12, 2018 Reply DoomFinger511 I always found the StrongLifts 5×5 program the best combo of light and heavy. In that it starts off super light then progresses to heavy, at a rate that let my whole body and nervous system adapt. Plus it was easy to follow and all the info is free. Only downside is once you can bench like 175-200lbs for a 5×5 (5 sets of 5 reps) you've reached the peak of that program. September 10, 2019 Reply Steve Griffith If you want to body build then pick moderately heavy or light and do reps to failure. If you want to get STRONG then pick up heavy shit (hint: It's more than 65%). You want show muscle or you want go muscle? September 10, 2019 Reply It’s FrostyWolf Med weight and Med reps is how I go and I’m happy with my results September 11, 2019 Reply Sunil Sahota The bottom line is, just get into the gym and work out! September 11, 2019 Reply Zardu Haslfrau So I should do a warmup into heavy explosive reps and finish off with light sets to failure? If I do light weights to failure before heavy sets I find myself struggling too much. September 20, 2019 Reply elf man Wish he defined whats a light weight? What if I did 50 curls to failure with a 15 lb weight instead of doing 8 curls with 3 set with a heavier weight. You could due a hell of a lot of different exercises at home using a 20 lb weight just going for failure for each different exercise. I find that watching most of these exercise experts just confuses me more. September 21, 2019 Reply gman57op i lift light weights now. never go over 135 on bench of squats. i used to do 280 on bench and over 300 on squats. im mfar stronger now that i lift correctly than my retarded pumped up on ritalin self in highschool. my punches and movement is far supioror. September 23, 2019 Reply BioHack Bingo! I've been wondering about this for a long time. Have two friends who are both insanely shredded. One is doing low rep high resistance training. The other is all into lots of reps body weight ONLY. The only common denominator – both are going till complete failure. Great video! Thank you! September 23, 2019 Reply A b Heavy weights give bigger muscles September 23, 2019 Reply David Dahl This is why Arnold would lift heavy to failure, step down the weight, lift that until failure, step down the weight, lift that until failure. Until you can't even move your arms September 23, 2019 Reply Adelino Jr By no way I am a professional but I noticed when I worked out I always start at a weight where I go three sets of 10 but 10 is my failure or very close to it. My goal is to get to 12 easily without a sweat. then I'll slap on more weight and make sure 8 is my failure and my goal is to reach 12 again. It worked very well with me but maybe it's just my body type if there's a such thing. September 24, 2019 Reply Venoct gaming I'm a kid trainer who's still learning the ins and outside of muscles but I know that if you lift weights you can jump 5 more pounds every 2-3 weeks to get more muscles unlike me as a little stick I'm able to lift 76 pounds while doing curls for 20 curls and that my max September 24, 2019 Reply No Body He should go deeper and break down the science between fast reps and slow reps both with heavy weight September 24, 2019 Reply D/ D/ I do reverse pyramid training. Heavy weight to failure then lighter weight to failure. Just my preference September 25, 2019 Reply Blazing Fox Conclusion:Lift medium weight 🙂 September 25, 2019 Reply michael donkor the thing is i never go to faiure. keep reps low per set (1-3 exept for warmups 5-8)but do a lot more sets singles never higher then 90% 1rm (obviously when doing double or triples this percentage will go down or it would not be a true max effort)and i grow not as fast as with higher reps butt every inch of muscle is rockhard and strenght wise you gain a lot more .also to recruit more fibers you need to mentally get yourself into a fight or flight state of mind . show some teethtighten your grip as tight as possible (grip is the indicator for your cns of how much fibers should be recruited ( so even when lifting small shit brace your grip as if youre trying to hold on to a accellerating ferrari) September 26, 2019 Reply Dee Mac Dorian you just proved that you got both muscles and brain. September 26, 2019 Reply Riaz Ahmed I did 375 reps with a 3kg once. My arms were locked up for almost 2 weeks and it was seriously painful😂 Never again. No In order to drive a car, you have to study constantly, get a permit, and then pass the driving test, and then YOU COULD SHOW OFF. The same thing goes with body building. If you want strength soooo bad, you gotta eat a lot of carbs. I eat 500 g to 600 g of carbs to maximize my strength. As a skinny Asian dude who's a hard gainer, you need to eat 4000 to 5000 calories everyday, not to stuff it in your face; however, split the 4000 into 3 meals. For example, 4000 Calories/3 meals = 1333 calories per meal. At the end of the day, it's 4000 by estimation. You can break it into 6 meals; however, you have to eat every 3 hours afterwards since it's so small. I prefer 3 meals since it takes my stomach takes five hours for my food to digest. I would use Myfitnesspal to calculate your calories and macros. I eat 500 grams to 600 grams of carbs, I eat 100 grams of fat, and I eat 200 grams of protein. I am aware of protein poisoning. October 10, 2019 Reply 1969klink Mike Mentzer settled this years ago. Time under tension until failure! Then take the time to recover; Known as recoverability! It's that simple! You turn on the bodies growth mechanism! Set it and forget it! October 10, 2019 Reply hujimwa I'm fined both has advantages. If you do heavy you can also get slow but larger, if you do more calisthenics type body weight exercises all make you quick. Depends what you are training for. But weights you can focus on a weaker muscle were as bodyweight type does alot more of everything at once. When you gain strength and can do approximately 7 reps with the heavier weight and 10 plus with the second and third sets, its time to step up the weight. Wish I would have known this when I was younger, my gains (both in size and weight) using this approach are quite steady.
