Edison woman loses sixty pounds with the endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty weight loss procedure.

I decided to take the chance and do the
surgery, and it was honest to god it was the best decision I ever made – it really was. My name is Yvonne Hernandez I had the endoscopic sleeve surgery at
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital about a year ago. For most of my adult life I’ve struggled with my weight and I’ve tried many different diets and diet
pills and whatever they had on the market and nothing worked for me. And I
gave up and as time went by I just kept gaining the weight, kept gaining the weight
and the more I gained weight the more I became depressed. About two years maybe
two and a half years ago I was at my highest weight which is about 245 pounds.
And one day I just sat down on my bed to tie my shoes and I could not tie my
shoes. I started crying. I said I need to do something. I was on the verge that I
could have had a heart attack or a stroke. My blood pressure was high, my
cholesterol was high, I was borderline diabetic, I was depressed, I was having
severe joint pain in my knees and hips It was affecting my entire life –
emotionally, physically, so I decided to have the consultation and I did. I saw
Dr. Kaheleh and we spoke at length. Yvonne was not interested in a surgical
intervention. She wanted the most minimally invasive option to lose
weight. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty was a very nice solution
for her because we were able to shrink the stomach from the inside so that she
feels full faster so she’s going to eat less. He was great, his entire team was wonderful from the minute that I went into the O.R. they
talked to me they talked me through everything that I was going to go
through. Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a procedure in which we use an
endoscope to shrink the stomach from the inside. So what we trying to do basically is to decrease global capacity of the stomach
by 70 percent, so that basically instead of having the stomach you have one long
tunnel without any surgery from the outside. I feel fabulous now – I do. I feel
like I just went back 20 years. I’ve lost 60 pounds. 60 pounds! My joints feel better. I feel like I can be the best version of myself now. You know I look good in my clothes. I’m losing weight. My dress sizes are going down. I’m
off a lot of my medications. I’m at a point in my life now that I am eating to
live I’m not living to eat. RWJ Barnabas Health Let’s be healthy together.
